A Librarian Reads…

The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (The Naturals, Book One)

Cassie knows how to read people. Her mother, a fake psychic, taught her from a young age to pay attention to behavior, personality, and environment. Even five years after her mother went missing (presumed dead), Cassie can figure people out without even trying. Then the FBI takes an interest in her special skills. They invite her to join a group of teens who have similar natural abilities to train to solve mysteries. Cassie jumps at the chance, not only to escape her father’s large extended family, and not only because she wants to help people and make a difference. She also hopes that hanging around with the FBI will give her a chance to learn more about her mother’s case. But as the bodies pile up, she learns nothing is what it seems, and getting answers sometimes comes at a price.

Recommended for mystery fans, especially of the show Criminal Minds, in high school and up.
