A Librarian Reads…

Mosquitoland by David Arnold

Mim has suffered her parent’s divorce, being moved from Ohio to Mississippi, watching her father remarry far too soon, and taking medication she doesn’t need for a psychosis she doesn’t have. But when she overhears her new stepmother say her mother is sick, Mim realizes she can’t take one more thing. Armed with a journal, a coffee can full of (stolen) money, and her sarcastic wit, Mim sets out for a thousand mile journey to find her mom. Along the way she will make and lose friends, battle enemies, and discover a lot more about herself than she thought possible.

Recommended for high school and up.
