A Librarian Reads…

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Simon Snow is The Chosen One. Everyone agrees he’s the most powerful mage in history and the only chance at saving the world from the Insidious Humdrum. He’s been at the job since he was eleven years old, and after seven years, Simon has accepted this is what is life will be until he’s killed in battle. Or possibly by his roommate and arch-enemy, Baz, who also happens to be a vampire. But his final year at Watford Academy brings changes Simon never could have expected, including friends and love both lost and found.

Fans of Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl will love this light-hearted spoof of the magic-school genre. Even those who have not read Fangirl will have no trouble diving into the funny and engaging world. Recommended for grades 7 and up.
