A Librarian Reads…

A Toaster on Mars by Darnell Pitt

Blake Carter is having a bad day. First he finds out the criminal mastermind he’s spent his career with Planetary Bureau of Investigation hunting has stolen a weapon that could destroy the Earth. Then he gets taken off the case, which naturally he ignores and follows a lead. Then he gets beaten half to death. Then he gets assigned a robot—excuse me, cyborg—as a partner. And to top it all if he gets a call from his ex-wife that their daughter is missing. Soon Blake finds himself caught up in a less-than-legal adventure to save his daughter, his career, and the whole planet.

Funny and irreverent, this book will appeal to readers who enjoy off-the wall science fiction like The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Galaxy Quest. Recommended for high school and up.
