A Librarian Reads…

Spill Zone by Scott Westerfeld (The Spill Zone, Book One)

The Spill Zone used to be a regular town, with homes and businesses and people. No one knows what really happened. Maybe a nanotech accident? Something to do with the nuclear plant? Aliens? In the end, it doesn’t really matter, because the damage is done. Now the zone is full of monsters, the reanimated dead, objects that float in midair, and things that defy description. No one goes there except government scientists and hazmat teams. And Addison. She sneaks in to take photos to support herself and her little sister, who were orphaned during the Spill. But she has another reason as well. She wants to find out what really happened that night. And she’s not the only one.

This creepy and intriguing graphic novel is a quick read that will leave you eager for the next installment. Recommended for middle school and up.
