A Librarian Reads…

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli

Molly has had twenty-six crushes in her seventeen years—all of them unrequited. She’s never had the courage to talk to any of the boys, let alone tell them she likes them and risk getting her heart broken. After all, fat girls like her have to be careful. It’s not as easy for her as it is for her beautiful twin sister, Cassie. When Molly meets Mina, she knows Mina and Cassie would be great together. And they hit it off. Even better, Mina’s best friend Will seems to like Molly. If they got together all four could double date and Molly and Cassie wouldn’t drift apart the way sisters sometimes do. The only problem is that as hot as Will is, Molly can’t seem to crush on him. Not the way she’s crushing on her new coworker, Reid. He’s not exactly crush-worthy, at least not in the eyes of most people. But Molly finds his nerdy t-shirts and awkwardness cute. Should she go for the guy she’s supposed to want? Or the one she actually does?

Highly recommended for fans of sweet romance and sister stories in middle school and up.
