The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl by Stacy McAnulty

When Lucy was eight years old she was struck by lightning. She survived, but she was changed. For one thing, she became a math savant, able to do complex calculations and equations with ease. She also developed OCD, unable to sit unless she did it three times and hyper-alert about germs. Now twelve, she’s finished high school and even taken some college classes online. Then her grandmother insists Lucy attend middle school for a year. Lucy is determined to blend in and simply survive the ordeal, but while she can pretend not to be good at math, it’s harder to hide her compulsions. Before she knows it, Lucy has friends and a purpose she never imagined.
