I Kill Giants by Joe Kelly
Barbara spends her time reading, avoiding people as much as possible, playing D&D, and killing giants. This doesn’t exactly make her very popular. But she doesn’t mind. All she cares about is getting ready, because a giant is coming soon. She sees the signs. But complications keep getting in her way. Like her older sister’s horrible cooking. Having to avoid the upstairs of her house. Catching the attention of the school bully. And even meeting a new girl that might become a real friend.
This graphic novel tackles some pretty heavy concepts, like bullying, grief, and death. But it also has a lot of humor. Recommended for readers in middle school and up.
