A Librarian Reads…

Brazen: Rebel Ladies Who Rocked the World by Penelope Bagieu

Throughout history, women and their contributions have often gone unnoticed. This graphic novel highlights the lives and accomplishments of 29 women. Whether they are artists or scientists, activists or soldiers, these women did not conform to what society expected of them, and did not hold back from offering the world all they had to give.

The short sections and graphic format make this a great choice for light reading that still offers a lot of information. Because the world has not been historically kind to women, some details may be best suited to mature readers. Recommended to readers in seventh grade and up.
