A Librarian Reads…

Contagion by Erin Bowman (Contagion, Book One)

When Nova, a young pilot, and Thea, a science intern, are chosen to participate in a rescue mission for one of their employer’s drilling teams, they assume it will be a standard response to faulty equipment. Only after they set out are they told they are going to Achlys, a planet on the fringe of the Union. And when they get there, what they find is far from standard. It appears that everyone on the planet is dead. But they aren’t. Soon the entire team, along with one lone survivor, are fighting for their lives against a host of blood-thirsty near-deads.

Told in alternating perspectives, this novel is part sci-fi, part horror, and all kinds of creepy. Recommended for readers in high school and up who enjoy scary stories.
