TWEEN STEAM CLUB: LEGO Space Challenge is open to students in grades 4-8. Learn to program robots and use them to accomplish tasks. Sessions will take place on January 14, 21, 28, and February 4 at 6:00 p.m. Attendance at all four session is recommended. Registration is required and space is limited. This program is developed pursuant to a Library Services and Technology act grant administered by the Illinois State Library using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Help the Moline Public Library knit/crochet blanket squares on Wednesday, February 6 at 5:30 p.m. Blanket squares will be used to make complete blankets which will be donated to Project Linus. Program is open to teens and adults of all levels of experience. No registration required. Supplies are provided but limited. Participants can bring their own supplies.

The Teen Advisory Group is your chance to help plan programs and events for teens, recommend new books and materials for the library, earn service credits, make friends, and have fun. Grades 6-12.

Learn to make videos using Windows Moviemaker on Thursday, February 7 at 6:00 p.m. Bring a favorite book and create a book trailer video for it. Registration is required and space is limited. This program is developed pursuant to a Library Services and Technology act grant administered by the Illinois State Library using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Students in grades 5-12 can win $100 in the Teen Video Contest sponsored by Quad City area libraries. Submit a 3 to 5 minute movie that celebrates the theme “Libraries are for Creating” by February 27 along with an ENTRY FORM. Then bring your friends and family to the Premiere Party at the Putnam Museum on March 7 at 6:00 p.m. to see your movie on the big screen.

Write Now! is a group for teen and adult writers of all genres and writing levels. Meetings will be on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the 2nd floor program room. Bring up to 6 pages of a piece you’re working on to the January 28 meeting to get feedback and advice.

Tweens and teens in grades 6 through 12 can create a variety of different crafts, including ornaments, squishies, cards, and more during a Teen Holiday Craft Extravaganza. Give them away as gifts or keep them for yourself. Enjoy snacks and a movie while you work. The second session will be on Tuesday, December 11 at 3:30 p.m. in the 2nd floor program room at the Moline Public Library. Registration is requested.

The Library asks you to celebrate Teen Read Week and to represent Moline in the 2018 Quad City Area Libraries’ Teen Reading Challenge! Teens in grade 6-12 can pick up a reading log at the Library after Sept. 22 and will have four weeks to read as many minutes as they can before returning to their logs to the Library (Reading logs due to Library by Monday, Oct. 22).
