Students in grades 4-10 can learn about animal biology, diet, habitat, and behavior through the dissection of a snake on Monday, March 2 @ 6:00 p.m. Students will be using sharp instruments, and parents are welcome to stay if the student needs assistance. Registration is required.

Tweens and teens in grades 6 through 12 are invited to join the Moline Public Library’s Teen Advisory Group. Make new friends, give advice about programs and materials for teens, and earn service credits. Meetings are on the first Thursday of the month at 3:30 p.m. The next meeting is on March 5.

The PNG Photography Workshop is a chance for students in grades 4-10 to learn about digital SLR cameras, framing subjects, lighting, and using editing software. This is a four-part series and attendance at all four sessions is recommended. Sessions will take place on February 27, March 5, 12, & 19 at 6:00 p.m. Registration is required and space is limited.

Help us knit/crochet blanket squares over the winter months. Blanket squares will be used to make complete blankets which will be donated to our Project Linus chapter. Program is open to teens and adults of all levels of experience and will meet on Wednesday, February 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. No registration required. Supplies are provided but limited. Participants may bring their own supplies.

Teens and adults can Learn to Knit with Carolyn Krueger, owner of The ARTery, and in the process make a trinket to take home. This two-part class will be on Tuesdays, February 18 & 25 @ 5:30 p.m. Registration is required and space is limited.

TWEEN STEAM CLUB: Dissection is open to students in grades 4-8. Learn about animal science and dissect a fetal pig on Monday, March 18 at 6:00 p.m. Registration is required and space is limited. This program is developed pursuant to a Library Services and Technology act grant administered by the Illinois State Library using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Students in grades 6-12 can submit ONE original poem of up to 30 lines in the Teen Poetry Contest. Entry forms are available at the library or online at https://bit.ly/2Gi5lAz. Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, April 17, 2019. Prizes will be $25, $15, and $10 gift certificates for first, second, and third places in each category (middle school or high school).

The library will be closed on Thursday, March 21 for an In-Service day.

Write Now! is a group for teen and adult writers of all genres and writing levels. Meetings will be on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the 2nd floor program room. On the second Monday we will discuss an aspect of writing craft, share experiences, ask questions, and/or do a writing exercise. On the fourth Monday participants can bring up to 6 pages of a current writing project to share with the group for advice and feedback. No registration required.

Students in grades 5-12 can win $100 in the Teen Video Contest sponsored by Quad City area libraries. Submit a 3 to 5 minute movie that celebrates the theme “Libraries are for Creating” by February 27 along with an entry form. Then bring your friends and family to the Premiere Party at the Putnam Museum on March 7 at 6:00 p.m. to see your movie on the big screen.
