This year’s Teen Reading Challenge runs September 22 through October 19. Pick up a Reading Log and keep track of how many minutes you read for prizes and an invitation to a party in your honor.

Tweens and teens in grades 6 through 12 are invited to a Superhero Movie Night on Monday, September 23 at 5:30 p.m. Choose which Marvel origin story to be shown, then enjoy snacks and crafts while you watch.

The Write Now! Writers Group is open to teen and adult writers of all genres and writing levels. Meetings take place on the first and third Mondays at 6:00 p.m. in the Moline Public Library 2nd floor program room. Bring up to 6 pages (double spaced) of a current writing project to share with the group for advice and feedback.

Poets who entered the Teen Poetry Contest are invited to a Poetry Café and Awards Ceremony at the Moline Public Library on Monday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. All poets will have a chance to read their poems out loud. Bring your friends and family for refreshments and entertainment.

The Teen Advisory Group is your chance to help plan programs and events for teens, recommend new books and materials for the library, earn service credits, make friends, and have fun. The next meeting will be on Thursday, May 2 @ 3:30 p.m. Grades 6-12.

Students in grades 6-12 are invited to an Interactive Movie Program featuring Avengers: Infinity War on Thursday, May 2 at 5:00 p.m. in the second-floor program room. Enjoy food, crafts, and other activities related to the film. Registration is required and space is limited.

Write Now! is a group for teen and adult writers of all genres and writing levels. Meetings will be on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the 2nd floor program room. Bring up to 6 pages of a piece you’re working on to the February 25 meeting to get feedback and advice.

Tween/Teen Gaming will take place on Wednesday, February 27 @ 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Enjoy a variety of video games, board games, and computer games at in the second floor program room. Drop in anytime. No registration required. Grades 6-12.

Help the Moline Public Library knit/crochet blanket squares on Wednesday, February 27 at 5:30 p.m. Blanket squares will be used to make complete blankets which will be donated to Project Linus. Program is open to teens and adults of all levels of experience. No registration required. Supplies are provided but limited. Participants can bring their own supplies.

Students in grades 5-12 can win $100 in the Teen Video Contest sponsored by Quad City area libraries. Submit a 3 to 5 minute movie that celebrates the theme “Libraries are for Creating” by February 27 along with an entry form. Then bring your friends and family to the Premiere Party at the Putnam Museum on March 7 at 6:00 p.m. to see your movie on the big screen.
