Teen Poetry Contest
Students in grades 6-12 can submit one poem of up to 12 (short) or up to 25 (long) lines in our annual Teen Poetry Contest. Entries are due April 13. Winners in each category will receive gift certificates for $25, $15, or $10. The Library will host a Poetry Café on Monday, May 1 at 6:30 p.m. for all poets to read their work. Snacks will be provided and prizes will be awarded.

Monday, March 6 @ 6:00 p.m.
Students in grades 4 through 8 can learn about LEGO Robotics. Learn how to program the robots, then come back next week to compete against your friends. This event is part of the Project Next Generation grant. Space is limited and registration is required. Bus passes are available upon request.

Tuesday, March 7 @ 6:00 p.m.
Teens who entered a video in the YouTube Contest, along with their family and friends, are invited to the Putnam Museum for the Premiere Party. View the entries on the giant screen and vote for your favorite. Pizza and drinks will be provided.

Thursday, February 23 @ 6:00 p.m.
Celebrate National Chocolate Month at our Chocolate Festival. Sample various kinds of chocolates, build your own sundae, and make a mug cake. (Please bring a coffee mug to participate.) Grades 6-12. Registration is requested.

YouTube Contest for Teens
Quad City teens in grades 6-12 can create a 3-5 minute video for a chance to win $100. In teams of up to five people, make a video based on one of this year’s themes. Upload your movie to YouTube, submit a hard copy to your library, and turn in the entry form. Entries are due March 1st. A Premiere Party will be held March 7th at 6:00 p.m. at the Putnam. See your local library for more information and an entry form.
