Students in grades 6-12 are invited to an Interactive Movie Program featuring The Hunger Games on Thursday, May 30 at 5:00 p.m. in the second floor program room. Enjoy food, crafts, and other activities related to the film. Registration is required and space is limited.

The Summer Reading Program starts on Saturday, June 1. Sign up and keep track of how much you read to earn prizes and entries into a drawing. Visit the library for a list of special events happening all summer long.

Kick off the Library’s Summer Reading Program with a pool party at Riverside Park’s Aquatic Center on Sunday, June 2 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Patrons should arrive by 6:30 p.m. in order to be admitted to the party. All pool rules must be followed. Space is limited and registration is required. Registration for this program constitutes registration for the summer reading program.

Would you like to help out with special events at the Library this summer? Teen Assistants ages 13 to 18 are needed to help with the following programs:

  • Live Clue—June 6 @ 6:00 p.m.
  • Tie Dye—June 22 @ 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Messing Around—July 1 @ 10:00 a.m.
  • Outdoor Discovery—July 2 @ 6:00 p.m.
  • Astronomy Club—July 16 @ 8:00-11:30 p.m.
  • Movie Sing-A-Long—July 19 @ 1:00 p.m.
  • Art Extravaganza—July 20 @ 2:00-4:00 p.m.
  • Escape Room—July 25 @ 2:00-7:00 p.m.

To sign up to help out with any of these programs for an hour or more, call the Library at 309-524-2470.

The Library will be closed on Monday, May 27 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

Tween/Teen Gaming will take place on Wednesday, May 22 @ 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Enjoy a variety of video games, board games, and computer games at in the second floor program room. Drop in anytime. No registration required. Grades 6-12.

Help the library get ready for the Summer Reading Program at a Decorating Party on Friday, May 24 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Help us prepare materials and decorate while enjoying pizza and snacks. This is an after-hours program, and students must be in the library no later than 5:30 and picked up between 6:50 and 7:10. Registration is required and space is limited.

Poets who entered the Teen Poetry Contest are invited to a Poetry Café and Awards Ceremony at the Moline Public Library on Monday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. All poets will have a chance to read their poems out loud. Bring your friends and family for refreshments and entertainment.

The Teen Advisory Group is your chance to help plan programs and events for teens, recommend new books and materials for the library, earn service credits, make friends, and have fun. The next meeting will be on Thursday, May 2 @ 3:30 p.m. Grades 6-12.

Students in grades 4-8 can make and eat a meal during the TWEEN STEAM CLUB: Cooking Class on Thursday, April 18 @ 6:00 p.m. Registration is required and space is limited. This program is developed pursuant to a Library Services and Technology act grant administered by the Illinois State Library using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Students in grades 6-12 can submit ONE original poem of up to 30 lines in the Teen Poetry Contest. Entry forms are available at the library or online at https://bit.ly/2Gi5lAz. Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, April 17, 2019. Prizes will be $25, $15, and $10 gift certificates for first, second, and third places in each category (middle school or high school).

The Library will be CLOSED on Friday, April 19 in observance of the Spring Holiday.
