Students in grades 4-10 can learn about animal biology, diet, habitat, and behavior through the dissection of a snake on Monday, March 2 @ 6:00 p.m. Students will be using sharp instruments, and parents are welcome to stay if the student needs assistance. Registration is required.

Tweens and teens in grades 6 through 12 are invited to join the Moline Public Library’s Teen Advisory Group. Make new friends, give advice about programs and materials for teens, and earn service credits. Meetings are on the first Thursday of the month at 3:30 p.m. The next meeting is on March 5.

The PNG Photography Workshop is a chance for students in grades 4-10 to learn about digital SLR cameras, framing subjects, lighting, and using editing software. This is a four-part series and attendance at all four sessions is recommended. Sessions will take place on February 27, March 5, 12, & 19 at 6:00 p.m. Registration is required and space is limited.

Help us knit/crochet blanket squares over the winter months. Blanket squares will be used to make complete blankets which will be donated to our Project Linus chapter. Program is open to teens and adults of all levels of experience and will meet on Wednesday, February 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. No registration required. Supplies are provided but limited. Participants may bring their own supplies.

Join us for a Chocolate Party on Thursday, February 13 at 6:00 p.m. We’ll have chocolate tastings, chocolate games, and more. Open to students in grades 6-12. Registration is required and space is limited.

Meetings take place on the first and third Mondays at 6:00 p.m. in the Moline Public Library 2nd floor program room. The Summer Reading Program runs through Saturday, July 27. Sign up and keep track of how much you read to earn prizes and entries into a drawing. Be sure to turn in all reading logs and prize drawing entry slips by the 27th!

Tweens and Teens ages 8 to 18 can try to escape from a haunted movie theater during an Escape Room! Figure out the clues to unlock the door–before it’s too late! Sessions will start at 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00 on Thursday, July 25 and 3:00 and 4:00 on Friday, July 26. Teams of three to ten people will compete at each session. Sign up as a team or make new friends.
** Teen Assistants are needed to help with this program. If you can help, please call 309-524-2470 to sign up for an hour or more.

Would you like to help out with special events at the Library this summer? Teen Assistants ages 13 to 18 are needed to help with the following programs:

  • Art Extravaganza—July 20 @ 2:00-4:00 p.m.
  • Escape Room—July 25 @ 2:00-7:00 p.m.

Do You . . . Sing? Juggle? Dance? Act? Do magic? Tell jokes? Play an instrument? Do spoken word? Have some other hidden talent? We would love to see it! Join us for the Moline Public Library Talent Show on Saturday, August 17, 2019. All ages and types of family-friendly amateur entertainment welcome. Perform solo or in a group. Acts will have a 12’x24′ performance area, and a maximum of 6 minutes including set, entrance, and exit. Registration forms are available online and at the Library and must be returned by July 17.  Spots are limited, so early application is recommended. Performers will be assigned a time slot between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Please plan to be available at any time during those hours. The Library will contact you with your time by August 3.
