The 2020 Summer Reading Program runs from June 8 through July 31.
You can read any book, magazine, comic book, or anything with words. If you have read it before you should re-read it during the contest dates to count for the program.
If you read at least 750 pages and/or minutes, you will receive a prize packet. If you read at least 1500 pages and/or minutes, you will get a bonus prize. When you are ready to get your prizes, call the library at 309-524-2470 and let us know how much you have read. If you have read at least 1500 pages and/or minutes, please choose your bonus prize from the list of books here. You can pick up your prizes through curbside pickup. You can only turn in one reading log this summer, and prizes must be picked up at the same time.
Want more chances to win prizes? Write a short review of a book you’ve read this summer. For each review, you’ll get an entry into a drawing and your review may be featured on the library’s blog. Book reviews can be mailed to the Library, submitted electronically, or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. See the book review form for more information.
All reading logs and book reviews must be turned in by Friday, July 31 to receive prizes and entries into the drawing.
To register for the program, call the Moline Public Library at 309-524-2470. Or, you can register online here and print out the handout, reading log, and book review forms. You can also submit your book review online here.
Programs in a Bag!
Call the Library to request a packet of crafts and activities to do at home. The first packet will be available June 15, the second on July 13. Quantities may be limited.
It’s a selfie with a book. Use the cover of a book plus you, your pets, or anything else to create a bigger picture. Submit your photos to email@example.com to be featured on our blog and social media.
Book Spine Poetry
Grab a stack of books (at least three) and stack them so the titles make a poem. Take a picture and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org to be featured on our blog and social media.
Pick up a kit from the Library, then tune into Zoom for a live program demonstration. You’ll be able to ask questions, see what others are doing, and show off your work. Programs will be recorded and posted on the Library’s website for those who are unable to join live. Registration is required and space is limited.
Please call the Library at 309-524-2470 to set up a time to get your program packets or Zoom kits. If you don’t have a camera, you can arrange a time to have Library staff take a picture of your entries.
